How offline programming allows for the optimization of dimensional control processes

In increasingly demanding industrial environments, stopping a measuring machine Developing new programs can become an operational and economic problem. Every hour of downtime means delays, reduced productivity, and decreased efficiency in the quality control system.

Therefore, more and more companies are opting for offline programming as an effective solution for developing measurement programs without affecting the daily activity of the plant.

At Téciman Metrología we offer a specialized offline programming service that allows our clients to keep their equipment operational while we develop, validate and implement the measurement programs needed for new products or processes.

What is offline programming?

Offline programming involves developing measurement programs outside of the measuring machine, using CAD models and virtual environments that reproduce the behavior of the real equipment.

Thanks to this methodology, it is possible to create, optimize, and verify complete programs without occupying the machine during the programming process.

Once development is complete, the program is implemented directly on the client's equipment, significantly reducing setup times.

The advantages of offline programming

The main advantage of the offline programming It eliminates the need to stop measuring equipment while new programs are being developed.

This translates into significant benefits for companies:

  • Continuity of production and quality controls.
  • Elimination of downtime in measuring machines.
  • Reduction of costs associated with equipment downtime.
  • Faster start-up of new projects.
  • Optimization of available metrology resources.
  • Less impact on production planning.

Furthermore, it allows for the prior validation of measurement strategies, trajectories, and accessibility before their final implementation.

Our offline programming process

At Téciman Metrología we develop measurement programs in our Metrology Laboratory, allowing our clients' machines to continue working normally throughout the project.

Our process includes:

Development of programs in the laboratory

We create and verify the programs using the CAD information of the parts and the dimensional control requirements defined by the client.

This phase allows for the optimization of the measurement strategy before its implementation in the plant.

Direct implementation on the machine

Once the program is validated, our technical team carries out the commissioning directly on the customer's measuring machine, minimizing adjustment times.

On-site pre-series measurement

If the project requires it, we also perform pre-series measurements using the client's own equipment to verify the results and ensure that the control system is fully prepared for production.

Compatibility with major metrology software

We adapt to the industry's usual work environments, developing projects in offline programming with the leading metrology software on the market:

  • TouchDMIS
  • Metrolog
  • PolyWorks
  • PC-DMIS

This flexibility allows us to easily integrate into the procedures already established by each client.

Case study: 53 references for a new automotive vehicle

We recently developed a project for an automotive supplier specializing in plastic components.

The challenge was to prepare the measurement programs corresponding to 53 references of a new vehicle without affecting the normal activity of the plant.

Thanks to our offline programming methodology, we were able to develop the programs in Metrolog from our facilities while the machine continued operating in production.

Once the developments were completed, the programs were implemented and validated, allowing the client to have a fully operational dimensional control system without having suffered any interruptions in their daily activity.

Offline programming: a key tool for modern industry

The increasing pressure to reduce industrialization times and maximize equipment utilization has turned the offline programming in a strategic tool for quality and metrology departments.

Developing programs outside the machine allows for accelerating projects, improving productivity, and optimizing available resources without compromising the quality of measurements.

At Téciman Metrología we help our clients implement offline programming solutions tailored to their needs, guaranteeing a fast, efficient and uninterrupted transition for production.
